• Amazing restaurant went there after several recommendations. Where not disappointed at all. Beautiful decor. Staff was curtious and friendly. Menu is amazing. Not your regular Mexican restaurant. My fish dish was incredible. Fish prepared very well and delicious. My husbands filet in a green sauce was cooked to perfection and super tasty. The decor was wonderful. Lovely lunch.

  • Best Mexican food in Arizona Elvira's is always good, true mexican food with a twist. The owner is always attentive and the service is great. We tried filet with a spicy sauce made with a combination of different chilis, really amazing. The wine list is very interesting too. If you are in Tubac, do not miss this restaurant. And also visit the interior design store next door, we found a beautiful piece for our dining room! Excelent meal and great design, could not get any better!

  • Best restaurant in Tubac By far, the best restaurant in Tubac. Delicious, fresh food, great menu, gorgeous decor. The ceiling art is amazing—hundreds of glass droplets/globes. Honestly, most of the restaurants in Tubac are very mediocre—which surprised me since Tubac is such a tourist destination. Great wine and tequila selections. A little pricey? Yes. But worth it. I was traveling solo and ate at the bar—where I had fun chatting with friendly locals who shared tips on local activities.

  • Consistently great! I go to Tucson to visit friends who live there at least once a year. And each time, we make the "pilgrimage" to Tubac for lunch at Elvira's. The decor is over the top, the service very good, and the food is always excellent and innovative. They have a great selection of margaritas. I love the various mole dishes on the menu - my favorite being "Mole Negro Oaxaqueño"

  • Food matches the decor! We've been to Elvira's several times in our trips to Tubac, and it delights every time. The decor is totally over the top, with glass seeming to drip from the ceiling and almost phantasmagoric opulence covers the walls. The moles are simply out of this world, and there is plenty more to choose from on the main entree menu, all suffused with tantalizing flavors. This is the antithesis of Tex-Mex: it's sophisticated, carefully prepared and, predictably, not inexpensive. A must stop if your are in the Tubac area with at least an evening for dinner.

  • Fantastic! Enjoyed an excellent lunch today that was as great as any evening expensive dinner we could have had. What a great surprise to find this quality in Tubac! We travel most of the year and favor back roads and small-town treasures..........this may be the best we have come upon. Visiting with the owner about the family's history since Grandmother Elvira opened her restaurant only enhanced a great experience. Tubac is a couple of hours from our home but we will drive there just for Elvira's. We loved the salsa, the margarita's, the (very unique) cheese crisp, and the green chili enchiladas.

  • Great experience Did not think we would find such a great restaurant in such a small town, but it was really top notch! We were told by a shopkeeper next door that we wouldn’t need a reservation, but that was incorrect. We were able to be seated outside which was perfect. Our waitress (unsure of her name but she had an Elvira tattoo) was patient and brought our samples of the different mole sauce on the menu, and all her recommendations were fabulous. I ended up with a stuffed poblano with a white cold sauce that contained Port, pomegranate and some other wonderful flavors. The shishito peppers were a perfect start. We ended up staying close to three hours before walking back to our Inn. Excellent time, thank you!

  • The Best Cuisine of Mexico in Arizona Elvira’s is simply the best cuisine of Mexican to be found in the state of Arizona. They are in a class by themselves. We have enjoyed dining here for years, probably about the time that they relocated from Nogales, Sonora, to Tubac. We were pleased that they were opened for in-dining during this period of Covid-19. Probably half of the tables have been removed and the staff was properly masked. Business was slow on the night we were there, which is a signal of the challenges that restaurants have today in America. Still, the service from Andan was professional and perfect, as was the food. Our party of three began with House margaritas, and then moved on to side salads with that incredible ginger dressing. My wife enjoyed the special of that day which was lasagna, which included fresh squash blossoms, while my brother and I had no choice but to go with the Chipotle Shrimp with a beautiful sauce covering a mountain of cheese au gratin and grilled shrimp. Freshly made flour tortillas were needed as one does not need to leave one drop of sauce behind. The sauce is very similar to a spicy molcajete. If you are one that is in to Tex-Mex, this is not your place. One would find this quality of food in the Polanco dining district in Mexico City. Soon, we will be back!

  • Quality lunch and cocktails! We decided to do an overnight in Tubac, searching for some lunch we landed at Elvira's. I have been to Elvira's on Congress for cocktails and judging by the lighting here I would guess same owners. I was an immediate fan upon walking in and seeing the most precious fur baby sprawled out on a leather couch in the bar with a ball in her mouth. She was the sweetest greeter by her cuteness alone. I was hovering between four and five stars, this sweetheart tipped it to five. We did not have reservations, and despite being pretty busy we were seated right away in a nook back by the patio. We ordered some cocktails (michelada and classic margarita) to get the lunch party started! My hubs had the molcajete (steak) and I did the garlic shrimp. Both were hearty portions and absolutely delicious. The rice is really well done here, as are the beans. Service was great and all of the pandemic protocols were spot on. Everyone where masks, patrons included in/out of the restaurant. Tables were very well spaced and there was hand sanitizer available.
